We've all got them, those company branded pens, calculators, calendars, radios - the list goes on and on. Most of these "gifts" (perhaps giveaways is a better term) end up in the bottom of a drawer and ultimately get thrown out. The purpose of a corporate gift is two fold. Firstly a gift is a way of saying thank you, we appreciate your business/custom. Secondly it is a promotional tool which hopefully encourages the gift recipient to continue to use/work with your business.

If you think about it carefully though, how can a plastic nick-knack manufactured by the thousand and then emblazoned with your company logo mean anything more to the recipient than the 50 cents it cost to manufacture? Everyone knows your company gives them away by the hundreds. Note the term "give away" which is synonymous with the terms free or valueless. In effect the average corporate gift sends the message that you are no different to anyone else and we value you all at 50 cents each.

Consider now the message that a unique one-off hand made gift sends to your clients/customers. Obviously we are talking about a Happy Hen, but not a standard Happy Hen.
