Happy Hens - Getting Jiggy with it!
They may not have been aerodynamic, but the hats worn by Team Happy Hens as they jiggered their way up 110m
of Dunedin railway line certainly looked the part.
The team took part in the Otago Settlers Museum time trials behind the
Dunedin Railway Station yesterday. A time of 24.8sec may not have taken them to the finals,
but the velocity was enough to get their home-made hen heads wobbling.
However, Mrs Sutherland said the hats made by staff two days ago to
cover their less eye-catching safety helmets, stood up well.
"We thought they were going to be top heavy or swing off but they did
not seem to at all. All we were concerned with was pumping that handle," she said, laughing.
Mrs Sutherland said the jigger race was good fun, a good team-building
exercise and for a good cause.
